The Story

It is hard for anyone to escape the divisiveness of politics in the United States these days. Not surprisingly this unfortunate situation became a topic of one of Ted’s later pieces.

In the piece, Democrats (blue hand) and Republicans (red hand) are seen trying to open the same door to compromise. Yet, since they are both pulling on it in opposite directions the door never opens. And thus, no progress is ever made. Our country is at a painful standstill.

As an additional commentary, in the background we see how corporations and money are the driving forces that are truly running politics in the country. The principles of what this country was founded upon (seen in the Declaration of Independence on top of the pillar on the left) are diametrically opposed to the principles that power politics today, money and corporations (seen in the corporate logos on top of the pillar on the right).
