Ted started his Art Box work in 1994. Prior to his Art Boxes, he had experimented with various art forms such as photography, drawing, sculpted walking sticks and more. The evolution of his artwork culminated in the Art Boxes, which became his passion.
By marketing standards, Ted would have been labeled an early adapter when it came to technology. He was among the first in the neighborhood to get a color TV, answering machine and VCR. But perhaps more surprising was his use of computers, email, GPS and cell phones well into his 70s and 80s. Ted understood the impact of technology on humans and often commented on it in his artwork. It may not have always been the central subject of a box, but it was often present in his boxes in one form or another.
