The Story

Miss Liberty (representing America) is on the cell phone - these days all of America, and the world, is connected.  Cell towers are like weeds, appearing all over the landscape - whether they are along highways, on the top of buildings, on water towers and more.  Will the presence of these towers be limited to voice transmission, or will visual observation be added?  Will cell towers become a tool of Big Brother?

The title of this piece is a play on the Verizon Wireless commercial and the mind-numbing challenge of trying to get good cell coverage. Of course, when we begin to consider the surveillance and privacy issues that have grown over the years, the title of the piece takes on a whole new meaning as we wonder if Big Brother truly is listening and watching.
