The Story

This piece is perhaps one of the best examples of Ted exploring the concept of juxtaposition. Around the time Ted created this box, scientific news was breaking, sharing the new-held concept that birds are the descendants of dinosaurs. This piece playfully explores the juxtaposition that birds now roam free and dinosaurs are in cages. In this piece, the abacus morphs and becomes cage.

Early in his work, Ted explored the concept of “juxtaposition”, where he placed opposing objects and thoughts in the same scene. This eventually led to some of his more intricate commentary on other areas of life and current events.
